Suburban Voice review of "Choose Your Own Adventure"

GET RAD-Choose Your Own Adventure (Get Rad/Halo of Flies/The Perpetual Motion Machine, 7"EP)
When I was a kid, I had a Bugs Bunny set that came with a book and two 10" records that spun at 78. Yes, I'm old, deal with it. Get Rad's latest missive is accompanied by a booklet where you're given choices to make and then flip to whatever page your choice leads you. The lyrical contents echo that narrative. As usual, with this Milwaukee band, the music is enjoyable, buzzing old-school hardcore punk with burn and occasional melodic touches. And it's a good thing it plays at 45 instead of 78 because my turntable doesn't have that speed option.

For tons of other reviews, check out
Suburban Voice

Al also does an awesome radio show Sonic Overload. He's trying to upgrade his website & equipment, so check out the show, donate a few bucks & mosh it up around your computer.

Razorcake review of "Choose Your Own Adventure"

GET RAD:
Choose Your Own Adventure: 7" EP
Am I easily swayed by clever packaging? You bet your fuckin’ life I am! As the title implies, the accompanying booklet features the exploits of Cru Jones, whose life is pretty crazy since he won Hellpath, and by making key decisions for him, you lead him towards either ruin or true love. The music? Rock-solid hardcore with the lyrics printed on the back page of the booklet for those not easily distracted, but shit, I’ve got more important things on my mind, namely trying to figure out why every decision I make seems to result in Cru’s death. Creative, lots of fun, and, on the whole, a great listen. –Jimmy Alvarado (Halo Of Flies)

Review - Choose Your Own Adventure

here it is. the 1st review for "Choose Your Own Adventure." it's not so good. oh well...

From MRR #338

Get Rad - "Choose Your Own Adventure" EP
This is "Modern" hardcore from Wisconsin that follows the well-established formula of clean-cut fast partys, occasional epic moments, and lyrics about skating, keeping posi, and other predictable topics. As the title implies, the theme is a mini choose your own adventure comic staring Cru Jones from the movie RAD. Pretty unremarkable. - Jason Halal

On the upside, the record did make Bob Goldie's top 10 in the same issue.

Also, if that review was enough to finally push you over the edge to the "I really need to own that record" camp, we still have a few copies left on colored vinyl. Still not sure & want to hear it first? Here you go!

More and/or better reviews coming soon.
